• Yes. if you left the plug in the cigarette lighter and left your car without motor running like going to work all day or school all day or shopping all day and come back into your car or van, your batteries will die. You have to unplugged it when turning off the motor becuase it drained all the batteries out. This is more suitable for long distance traveling such as truck drivers, RV travelers, but not for short distance. it doesn't keep food cold on short trip only if you are on long road trip it will cold your foods. its neat but not suitable for islands like Haw..

• It will if your car still provides power to it. My truck I can leave it plugged in and it will keep running while my truck is off, my car it doesn't. So if your port works while the car is shut off it will still run.
