• It comes with a power adaptor to plug into an electrical outlet or power strip, and the plug into the device, and I believe the strobe light is powered by the three AA batteries that the instructions say to install into the unit.

• The power cord is for the strobe. The ringer part of the phone will work without the power cord. The ringer also does not need the batteries to work.
