“Will this purify creek water and make it safe to drink, or does it remove chlorine, iron, lime, etc from already purified tap or bottled water? Or is this just false comfort? $95 is a lot if this bottle does little or nothing other than being reusable.”

It runs on a uv sterilizer which steralizes microbials such as bacteria making the water less risky. It would do nothing to heavy metals or chemicals present in water. I cannot speak on the effectiveness of the sterilizer as different microbial pests need different times of exposure to uv for it to be effective.
