A thermal overload protector is built in to prevent overheating. If an overheat temperature is reached, the heater will automatically shut off. It can only be resume operation when the user resets the unit.
A:AnswerThe unit turns off and on when using the set-temp and timer option without any chiming. You don't realize it's turning on or off unless you pay attention to the actual blowing of air. Naturally the air blowing you can hear, but it is a very low hum.
