It is not locked in to any one service. It's essentially just a handheld Windows PC so anything you can run on a laptop will work on this. I use Xbox PC Gamepass mostly and Steam. Both work great.

It’s not limited to Xbox consoles at all. You can also use the Xbox app to play Xbox Game Pass PC games or even stream games from your Xbox console to the device if you want, but that’s optional.
