“Will this work if the top and bottom holes are on a diagonal vs. in a straight line? Our TV is mounted above a fireplace so the bottom hole would need to be to the right of the fireplace vs. directly below the top hole.”

No, unless you cut a hole to cut thru the stud by the fireplace.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This most likely will not. The reason the holes are lined up vertically is because they are installed between studs in the wall. Unless you are able to go up and over said studs around the fireplace, it won't work.
