Don't know about speed for games but it is very dark. I've tried adjusting but failed

The model you saw in the store may have had Automatic Brightness control turned on. Because of the lighting in the store, if could effect the brightness of the screen. Concerning the ability of this configuration to play specific games, that will depend on the specific requirements of the games.
