A:Answer This computer would work fine for someone that is new to coding. It's not going to be the fastest computer on the block for running and IDE, but it will get the job done. It will lag a bit behind if you hit it with a complex project in Visual Studio. A Visual Studio Code project like an ASP.Net Core site would function great on this system. It has plenty of power to handle that workload. Most other languages are also going to run just fine, PHP, Ruby, Javascript, all should have no issue with this system. I actually code on mine a lot. I really like the way that it feels to type on the keyboard and the multi-touch track pad works great also.
After a few years, if this is an avenue that your child would still like to pursue you would probably want to look into an upgrade. Great system for a starter though, probably last about 2-3 years.
