Very good for students. I would recommend it. Only drawback is the same for all laptops the glide point is in a bad spot and can move while typing.

If that this the type of work the student will be doing, then yes, this would be an appropriate system. Approximate battery life is 4 to 6 hours, depending on the working being done on the system.
