First off what you get: 15.6" Screen, DVDRW, Webcam, Bluetooth 4.0, WIFI B/G/N, Multi Format Media Reader, 2.0 & 3.0 USB Ports, 10/100 Ethernet LAN, separate Number Pad. What you don't get a bunch of "Bloatware". This a good reliable Laptop for users that need the basics: Internet, Email, & Office Suite Functionality. The integrated HD graphic display makes viewing Videos or Pictures a joy. The Laptop is relatively thin & not too heavy. Low price & the above listed features make it a Good Buy!

I am fan of Toshiba laptops but I want to try another brand. With this, Lenovo is my only choice after Toshiba. This laptop did not disappoint me.

I was looking for a laptop for my father in law which had adept features for effortless internet browsing and basic office application capabilities. This model was an exact match and was a steal at the price best buy was offering. Really happy with the product!

Never buy a Toshiba!!! Lost 1,200 in 3 month

Very disappointed make that extremely disappointed the Toshiba rep was on site and convinced me that this laptop was the best on the market. (-3 months ago) then when I brought it in The Geek Squad said they have all kinds of trouble with the lower end units like this one. Contradictory of what the Toshiba rep said was a top-end laptop. I bought this Toshiba for business and now I'm out of business and will never buy another Toshiba product and extremely unhappy with Best Buy Services as well. I had to put at least one star just so I could get this on the survey.

I just turned it on and got it hooked to my wifi when it asked if it could retrieve updates. It has had that stupid spinning dot circle for hours and hours since with the phrase " Just a moment" underneath. Glad I decided to set it up before putting it under the tree! I will be taking it to the store to ask for replacement. Today. I will update this review afterwards.

This system is equipped with One Key Recovery system. There is a very small pin hole on the left side of this device, just above the HDMI port. You will need a pin to push this reset button. It will boot your system to a choice screen. You can normal boot or restore to factory default. You may need to restore to factory defaults this time. PLEASE NOTE: this will delete everything on the system except the original operating system settings.

Bought this as an open box discontinued item dedicated to supporting one application as part of a traveling configuration. Large enough screen to be easily viewable, small enough to be portable. Plenty of functionality, memory, storage to support standard needs. My only complaint is the positioning of the right hand Shift key. It's much further to the right than normal due to the positioning of the Page Up key making it difficult to use if you are a touch typist.

I got this laptop as a replacement for my 8 year old Toshiba Satellite (Windows Vista) on a the Deal of the Day for less than $200. For this price it is a very good deal. I did not have big expectations for this laptop based on its basic specs, and it met my requirements of normal use. I like that Lenovo did not put a ton of bloatware on it, so it it is still fairly quick on the start up and shut down. The big screen is nice for watching youtube and DVDs. ONE BIG BUMMER: the speakers are just outright bad, the sound even at the max volumes is very quiet. It does not bother me too much as I usually plug in headphones anyway, but for someone who wants to listen to the podcasts or music while working on the computer this may be very uncomfortable.

Essential Tasks at Competitive Price

This PC performs the essentials well at a very competitive price. The computer itself is solid, yet slim and lightweight. Meanwhile, Windows 10 is no minor upgrade to the Windows OS. I cannot give it four stars because 1) the trackpad lags occasionally from the first use, and 2) a year into use, the 3mm jack almost never detects audio devices.* NB: I use this PC predominantly for browsing, streaming from Hulu and Netflix, music making apps, and word processing. It is not a gaming PC as is.
*As a quick fix, I started using a USB to 3mm adapter. I've found once the computer detects a device with the adapter, I can connect it directly into the 3mm without issue.

I recently purchased a machine to craft with thinking I could use my iPad with it. When I got the machine, I found out I couldn't and needed a computer or laptop to download the software to use it. Since this was an expensive machine, I didn't want to invest a huge amount of money on a new computer too, but I needed specific system requirements to run the software.
I researched different laptops on Best Buy.com for several weeks. I specifically needed a laptop with 4GB ram that also had a cd/DVD drive. While there were some great laptops on sale, they were still more than I wanted to spend (the more affordable laptops are only 2GB). I received an emai for a flash sale, saw this one advertised, and couldn't pass up the deal.
Set up was quick and the software I downloaded runs smoothly. It does not take long for the laptop to turn on and log in, and I have no issues with slow speed when logging on and using the Internet. I did not download anything else, as this was purchased to primarily use for my crafting machine, and I can access my favorite apps and programs on my iPad.
If I had to give it a con, it would be that it is heavy - at least compared to my daughters Chromebook - but other than that, this completely meets my needs and was a great buy for me.

A Few Design Flaws but a Useable Laptop

The keyboard keys placement is not at all optimal. In hitting the Shift Key, those with smaller hands will hit the navigation keys instead. One is tethered to using the Fn key to use actual Function Keys when the Fn key should be supplemental and not primary in its use. As well, there are only two (2) usb ports, whereas most of the laptops I have used have three (3). The laptop has a terrible battery life--requiring recharge at the most inopportune moments; resulting in work loss when the system ultimately shuts down--before reaching a suitable outlet to recharge. It doesn't work well with Chrome, as Chrome takes a good deal of RAM resources. Unfortunately, 4Gb, on this system, represents quite a challenge for this pc as a result. As for the price, it is a very good selling point. I now understand the price. I would only recommend it to someone interested in saving money for the price or for someone not wishing to throw money away on a better laptop for the youngster that may be careless and less careful with its use.

With regard to the right shift key issue you mention, there is a free software APP called KeyTweak that may help you. You can switch the key functions of specific keys on your keyboard with this software, so you could change the right shift key with the key you hit in its place. Just Google search "KeyTweak" and you will find articles about what the software does and you will find the download location for this free APP.

This Lenovo 15.6 laptop was purchased for my daughter's homeschool curriculum. She uses it for her online textbooks and labs. The screen is adequate for reading and taking quizzes and tests and the 500 GB storage provides more than enough space for her learning materials. It's lightweight and holds its charge fairly well for when she works on road trips. Overall, this is an excellent laptop for the price!

I bought this laptop for my wife to replace her old Dell Latitude laptop that died. All she really uses it for is email, Facebook and web surfing. She's had it for about a month now and has had no problems with it. Her only complaints with it are 1) the keyboard layout, particularly the right shift key placement, and 2) not a particularly long battery life when unplugged. For the $199 price we paid, the laptop meets my wife's needs just fine.

Hard to believe a new name brand Windows 10 laptop PC with 15+" screen and 500 gb hard drive can be purchased for less than $200 on sale. A utilitarian basic black box....thin, light, quick to start and quick to respond. Keyboard is a little chintzy so probably not for typing purists wring their autobiography, but for web-browsing and email, might as well buy a couple and scatter them around your house. If this is your first experience with Windows 10, you will be able to work it immediately and it will take 3-5 days to become second nature. I have found some older websites still haven't updated to Windows 10 compatibility, so, don't disconnect your old PC completely just yet.

I purchased this laptop for a job I was starting. The laptop operates great, but the battery life is not very good. The only other problem I have with this laptop is that the "shift" key on the right side is not in the spot on the keyboard that I'm used to, so, I miss-key sometimes when I'm trying to use that key. Other than that, I think it's a great laptop.
