Model number 81DE017BUS is not user upgradable. A certified technician must do all of the work, so as to not void the warranty. The maximum RAM this configuration can support is 12GB. As you point out, there is 4GB of RAM soldered to the motherboard. There is another 4GB of RAM within the one RAM memory slot within this configuration. Your certified technician can remove the 4GB RAM stick from the memory slot and replace it with an 8GB RAM memory stick.
