Yes, this laptop will run CAD. I recommend upgrading the RAM to 16gb though. This laptop has a built in 4gb and a 4gb ddr4 ram card, only one ram slot. If you buy a 16gb ram card you will end up with 20gb of ram. You can find 16gb ram cards online for around $60.
