This laptop uses a MediaTek ARM chipset. While you can install an ARM based Linux distribution, you'll lose the advantages of hardware based DRM (for streaming media services such as Disney Plus, Peacock, Netflix etc.) that come with an official Chromebook. You might be better off to use the Crostini Linux compatibility layer which allows you to install flatpak and debian packages. I have never been able to get my Raspberry Pi to work well with streaming media that uses DRM, so I haven't tried to install another OS on this Chromebook.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, You must enable Linux, but it is a simple process. Check the settings. One of the smaller distros would probably be best, but almost all Linux brands have very fine small distributions available.
