“I hard wired my PC to one of the ports on the back of my router. I was told it was better to shut off wi-fi for faster speeds, more security and to save electricity. Will this have any negative effects and how should I shut off wi-fi?”

• If you don't want the WiFi feature, just disconnect the router from your modem and plug your computer into the modem. If you turn off the WiFi you will turn off the power to the router, which will disconnect the hardware connection as well.
