Yes I have used VS2015 on it and currently have VS2017 installed on it. Just be careful about what is loading at start up as this can cause it be slow starting up. When the warranty runs out I am going to switch to an SSD drive and use the original one in an external case via USB to store data. I currently have another laptop that I do this with and it works great.
