That would depend on your curriculum. This system would not be good for CAD or graphic design, film or video editing. It would be good for Microsoft Office projects. Word documents, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint Presentations. The Pentium processor would be the minimum a college student would want to consider. If it's in your budget, consider moving up to a Core I-5 processor based system.

However, if they need a zippy little computer with excellent battery life, touch screen capability, and tablet mode, then yes it is a good laptop. I know that's kind of vague, but honestly for the price, you can't get a better computer with as many bells and whistles.
