You can use a capacitive touch stylus, which is basically a replacement for your finger. You can not get a fine line type of writing with this screen. You can certainly take notes with it but not a fine line, or adjustable quality. A digital screen is better, say the ThinkPad Yoga 2-14 which comes with a digitizer pen. Battery life on the Flex 4-14 is between 4 to 6 hours, depending on the work you do. It would be about the same on the ThinkPad Yoga 2-14.
