The touch screen on this system is a capacitive touch screen, meaning you can not use a digital or active pen with it. You can use a capacitive touch stylus, which is basically a replacement for your finger. You can not get a fine line type of writing with this screen. You can certainly take notes with it but not a fine line, or adjustable quality. A digital screen is better, say the ThinkPad Yoga 2-14 which comes with a digitizer pen.
