Please try again later.it asks for a "microsoft" password....you have to start up a microsoft account "free"...use that password which you may already have than change it! microsoft wants to bundle all the passwords...but not recommended! easy to hack!!! i was also confused about this password for about 10 minutes!

Since the hint says DOB it may be his Date Of Birth, but in any case it's something he set (not the manufacturer). He may not have activated Windows, but he set a password for something. Be sure to be specific about where you see the password request (what you click on right before seeing this message) - that will help jog his memory.
