“Laptop is not turning off fully. When I hit "shut down" everything closes and the screen goes black - but the power button light remains on. Battery dies because of this. I have to hold the power button down to turn off, which is not recommended. Help?”

The power button will stay on if the system is still plugged in after you turn it off. If the power button stays on after shutdown and the system is not plugged in, try updating your system's drivers, including BIOS and power management drivers.
