This is an entry-level system. It has a basic 480p web cam. There may be some buffering of the Skype video. You can add any type of mouse that is compatible with the Windows 10 Operating System.

The camera on the Lenovo requires VERY bright light to produce a good image, and the image is a bit soft. That means your 94 year old mom will look 30 years younger, as the softer image makes everyone look wrinkle free. You can add a wireless usb mouse if you prefer. The trackpad on the Ideapad is easy to use so most folks will not miss having a mouse.
