The Lenovo IdeaPad 3 15 Laptop, model number 81W1018XUS, is not user upgradable. A certified technician must do all of the work, so as to not void the warranty. This configuration ships with 8GB (4GB OnBoard + 4GB DIMM). There is 4GB RAM soldered to the motherboard and an additional 4GB RAM within the one RAM memory slot within this configuration. Your certified technician can remove the 4GB within the RAM memory slot and replace it with an 8GB stick of DDR4-2400MHz RAM for the system maximum RAM of 12GB DDR4-2400MHz RAM. We recommend you consult with your certified technician about your upgrade options.

Which means you will have 8GB from the cradle to the grave. No other configuration. 8GB total. Not bad for an internet cruiser. And the Ryzen 3, 3rd Gen. Should run well with 8GB. However plan on installing a 250GB or 500GB SSD (Samsung 870) for the Best Performance to Dollars ratio. The 128GB SSD will have you using a USB stick to complete Windows Upgrades eventually when it doesn't have enough memory to hold the Update Temporary files while an update is trying to install. Another Option I find being used is to purchase a 3.0 USB external Pci SDD of at least 1TB and install Windows and Boot from this drive by setting it up in your BIOS to Boot from the External. This can be accomplished by purchasing a 3.0 USB Cloning enclosure with 3.0 USB cable. This way you have a proper case and can purchase any Super Speed (cheap in price) Pci SDD. It works and can be transferred to other desktops and Laptops. Or spend the money and purchase a Killer (whatever is fastest currently) External High-performance 1TB or 2TB to Boot from externally and load your apps and games on. It's a new way to get good performance now and move to new PC's when your Laptop changes to something High-performance. Give it a try. It's like the new/easy Multi-boot Windows System. I believe I may purchase one of these laptops just to try this concept?
