This laptop should be fine for most college students. You can write papers (with word processing software), take notes (with note taking software), do presentations (with presentation software), work with spreadsheets (with spreadsheet software), receive and send email, and do internet research (with its built-in wi-fi networking). Software for the aforementioned purposes is available in the "Cloud," as well as commercially available, and often available free for download from internet websites. The CPU, while "entry level", is more than adequate for the above uses, and the 500 gigabyte hard disk drive provides significant storage capacity, plus, "Cloud" storage is available. This laptop has a built-in DVD/CD player, for loading programs from DVDs or CDs, although most software now is available for download to the laptop's hard disk drive from websites on the internet. And, BestBuy's price for this laptop is quite reasonable considering the laptop's capabilities. Hope this helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That really depends on the work that the student will be doing and the programs that will need to be installed on the computer. We recommend you check with the student for the programs that will need to be installed, then check with the software publisher's web sites for their compatibility with Windows 10 Home 64-bit operating system and the minimum/recommended hardware requirements (Is a Graphics card required, the processor speed and the minimum required system RAM and the minimum available hard drive space) to run their program, then compare those requirements to this system's configuration. You can also check with the college web site for guidance on the type of computer they recommend.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It world be okay for a regular student just writing papers and using the internet. Other than that no it won't work for graphics or extra software.
