check the dongel specs? I've run this with an HDMI cable using a usbc to HDMI dongle on a 2017 macbook pro, and using a usbc to displayport cable. I don't know the iMac specs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This monitor has a HDMI or Display Port input on it. For a more crisp picture use the DVI to HDMI Dongle. I don't think you will see a lower resolution, however that depends on your GPU.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That depends on the maximum resolution your DVI side can support on your adapter. A single-link DVI connector can display a maximum resolution of 1920×1200 – A dual-link's maximum for that same screen is 2560×1600. We recommend you check the maximum resolution supported by your adapter.
