“I just got a monitor for Christmas and I’m hooking my monitor up to my Xbox along with a keyboard and a mouse. I hooked my headset up to the monitor which I do hear the game on but I can’t talk to my friends through the headset! I don’t have a pc ! Help!”

The monitor audio port is not a combo headset port. It only carries audio out. Try connecting to the XBox console for both audio in/out for your headset.
