I opened mine up and swapped in a 256 GB SSD on the SATA and a 512GB SSD on the M.2 port. So yes you can add an M.2 Device, but you'll need to be careful by going into BIOS/UEFI settings to properly set the boot device. It took a formal Windows 10 reinstall to get it to boot correctly for me.
