You've got to be joking .... this monitor does NOT have a HDMI input ,,,,,, AAgghhhhh
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can connect the monitor without the use of a docking station, but take into consideration that this monitor just have two video out: Display Port and VGA. I have a Think Pad Yoga 370 and this laptop just have HDMI, so I had to buy the Display Port to HDMI adaptor in Target, but it didn't work! I don't know why, but in the middle of the pandemic, I couldn't figure out the reason. So, I bought a second adaptor, but now a HDMI to VGA, and it works very well!. Notice each adaptor (Phillips) cost +$30! About to use it as a second monitor, not sure if you refer as 1st monitor your laptop, but definitely you can, just have in mind the limitations of available video connectors in your laptop. In this case, yes, perhaps you will need a docking station.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You will need a USB-c to DisplayPort cable to connect this monitor to the Lenovo ThinkPad T480s, like this one: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/j5create-usb-type-c-to-displayport-adapter-cable-white/5091211.p?skuId=5091211. You can use this external monitor with the computer screen for two total screens.
