Actually I just got this laptop - 14" Yoga 710 with new 7th Gen processor, and the fan is considerably loud and kept turning itself on even when I only had one Chrome tab open doing basic Google searches (CPU at less than 35C). I knew it was going to possibly have this issue due to reading dozens and dozens of reports on various forums about this specific model having this issue. I performed all the Windows updates and updates using Lenovo Companion and the fan still was whirring like crazy with a high pitched drone. I then tried the 'new' fix of downloading third party software as suggested on a few other forums and so far it has helped to a degree. Ideally I'd love a legitimate fix from Lenovo so I can remove this third party software. Apparently, Lenovo keeps denying that this laptop even has the fan issue so I am going to give them another phone call.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Previous models, excluding the latest 2016 version, have had fan issues. The latest version, along with the Kaby Lake version (sold only on Levovo's website), have no current fan issues. I purchased the most recent model and while it DOES have a fan, it's quiet. In the very rare circumstance that you can hear it, it's very quiet and you can just barely hear it. It is an SSD but most SSD devices include a fan for the more heavy-duty processing jobs- just to keep the device nice and cool.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Yoga 710-14 has not had fan noise issues. This system uses a mobile version processor because mobile processors are used in thin light weight systems like this one. The SSD does need a fan, its the processor and motherboard that generates heat and the fan is used to cool and maintain optimum temperatures within the system. Keep in mind as you look for a new computer, all high performance computer systems like this one have a cooling fan to keep the device within optimal temperature ranges while in use. The sound that the fan makes and whether it is an "issue" is a subjective interpretation. We recommend you stop by your local Best Buy location and DEMO this model for yourself. See if the normal operation of the cooling fan is noticeable and if it is a problem for you.
