“I've done a bit of research on this computer and have heard that the 4k screen has an issue that will randomly-- black line forms at the top right. Has anyone who uses this laptop ever encountered this? Is there a fix for this +how common is this problem?”

Have I encountered it? Yes. Is there a fix for this? You can temporarily fix it by turning the unit upside-down overnight, with the top of the screen facing down. Lenovo support has promised a permanent fix soon but it will require sending it in for repairs. How common is this problem? Nearly all of the 4K 15.6 models sold at Best Buy have the issue. My local store's floor model has it too.

It's too bad that both my original purchase in Aug 2017 and the replacement laptop in Sept 2 2017 both ended up with the black line on the screen. UNACCEPTABLE for the price! Lenovo's tech support, although very accommodating, have never acknowledged that there is an issue even when I reported to them that there was an online community forum specifically developed because of the persistent issue with this model. I am not sure if there is a fix, if the Lenovo customer reps keep acting surprised when I reported the problem. I am finally turning this last replacement in for a different laptop.

Brought it back to exchange for another unit within my two week period, and the brand new one out the box has the worst light leaking problems I've ever seen on an lcd panel. I'm bringing it back today. I've been looking for another option with similar features in the same price range, and it seems that lcd quality is a big problem. Best of luck.

It sounds as if you have encountered a defective screen, it happens. If that is the case simply bring your laptop to the Geek Squad and there will be no problem having it replaced, usually immediately. As an advanced user of graphic design and video editing software, I have to say that the Lenovo Yoga, 720, with its 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen and the 360-degree hinge that lets you switch between notebook and tablet modes, really puts the fun back into laptop computing.
