It'll depend on a number of different circumstances. You can put the laptop into a power optimized mode and get 8 hrs, but if you have the screen at full brightness, have the wifi on, pushing the processor, etc, it's going to cause the battery to drain faster. All-in-all, i wouldn't be concerned. Average battery life on these things is 4-5 hrs.

Be sure there are no unwanted programs running in the background, draining the battery. If there are no unwanted programs running, to maximize battery life, try changing your power management setting to a more conservative one. You can do this in the control panel, in the power management category on your system. Select a more conservative power management setting to extend battery life.
