• It stays pretty cool, but in a hot environment you may need a USB laptop cooler. The cooler sits underneath the laptop and has a couple fans and works really well.

• I have not noticed this laptop get hot but hot could be a matter of opinion. I have not heard the fan kick up to high even after opening up video after video in a matter of seconds. But then I tey to keep my home at a level 75-80 degrees and don't usually use my laptop outside. I too live in one of the hotter states.
