In response to LG answer- surely not! Most of these are minimal 18 inches, 30 seems way high for any manufacturer.... but hey, if it is 30 it is but I think thats gonna rule me and quite a few others out

Please try again later.I spoke with someone directly via LG chat last night and they confirmed that the minimum height is 18 inches from the top of a gas range to the bottom of their microwave. I had seen 30inches mentioned online in regards to All over stove microwaves, which is why I wanted to ask an LG associate directly. Our current regular size Samsung microwave is only at 17.5 in above which may explain why it has started going bad after only 2 years. While the Whirlpool is about an inch higher the LG will sit about 21 in from our cooktop.

The average counter is 36 inches and to require an additional 30 inches over that brings the microwave to 66 inches from the floor and the Max distance for safety is 54 inches from the floor as per the National Kitchen and Bath Association. 36+18= 54 so I'd guess 18 inches is what they meant.
