I installed it since I couldn't return it any longer and it works perfectly!! Thank you for the response and your response was spot on in regards to the movement of the cold air. The placement of the air conditioner is not an issue in regards to cooling. We can't see the digital screen but have set it to a specific temperature and just use the on and off button on the remote.

There really is no way to predict if the air will just hit the ceiling, flow outwards and still function. Typ[ically, when an air conditioner is installed at least 30" above the floor, it cools the air that is closer to the ceiling first, and as you know hot air rises up because of lower density, the cool air comes down making the room cooler. It will more than likely work as you describe. Heaters are placed near the floor becuae the hot air currents move upwards so that the hot air fills the room. Similarly, if the air conditioner is placed near the ceiling because it gives out cool air, it is placed near the ceiling because the cool (high density) air tends to settle downwards...^IFV
