I purchased on Amazon a DotStone HDMI to HDMI + audio (SPDIF +L/R) converter. It works, but be advised that sometimes when u switch stations like to Netflix and back to tv u have to turn the remotes off and back on to get the volume back on your soundbar. At least that what I'm finding on my tv, but I have several remotes.

I don't believe you need to purchase any. I hooked mine up with the optical cable (supplied)
