“I just purchased this microwave haven't used it yet but I set the clock and it stays on for a bit then goes black”

Be sure the economy setting isn't selected. (third button from bottom right)

It's the eco mode feature. It is still keeping time and will come back on when you press any button. If you want the clock permanently on you can push the "Energy Savings" button on the key pad.

It's part of the energy saving mode. There are instructions to change it.

It is supposed to, energy saver BUT you can probably turn that option off.

That is the default Energy Efficiency configuration. If you push the Energy Efficiency button the clock will display again; when the microwave is idle for 5 min the display will turn off. You can change this configuration if you desire. See the manual for instructions.
