  • QuestionDoes the microwave vent in the room from the bottom?

    Asked by Chris.

    • Answer No, rather, the vents on the bottom are intake vents for the items on the stove. The unit can be adjusted to vent from the rear through duct work in the wall or from the top front. The blower needs to be manually adjusted with the appropriate vent parts redirecting and/or closing the respective openings.

  • QuestionHow is it installed?

    Asked by EPG.

    • Answer Two bolts screw into the microwave from above. The back base of the microwave has a metal lip running the length of the unit. There is a metal frame that needs to be screwed to the studs in the wall behind the microwave (unseen - very flat). To remove the old microwave, unscrew the two bolts. It will lean forward/down (this is a two person job). Lift it up off the lip and it's free from the wall. You can use the box or styrofoam from the new unit to rest the old unit instead of dropping it on the range. To install the new one, check the included metal frame against the one that is already mounted. If they're the same, tilt the new unit onto the lip of the frame (two people, again). [If not, remove the old frame, and install the new frame INTO THE STUDS]. Once the unit is on the lip solidly, tilt it up and install the bolts from above. You may have to drill a new hole in the bottom of the cabinet over the unit to align with the new bolt location. For me, one aligned perfectly, and the other was off by 1/2inch. Total time was 30-45m. Tools needed were screwdriver, drill, and a wide washer (that 1/2" hole was really close to the old hole) - helped distribute the weight. Seriously - this is an easy thing to do. And before I forget, I DID have to remove the blower motor to exhaust out the top instead of out the back. (Read the manual - see if your current unit exhausts out the top, out the back (into the wall), or into a flue.)

  • QuestionIf configured to vent from the top front, is the height of the unit increased? And if so, by how much? Thanks

    Asked by GleeJee.

    • Answer Hello there, GleeJee. Thank you for sharing your inquiry about your LG MVEL2033F over-the-range microwave. We understand your situation and appreciate your attention to proper installation details. When the microwave is configured to vent from the top front, the overall height is increased by approximately 1½ inches. This additional height is designed to accommodate the venting components, ensuring optimal airflow and efficient performance. • QuestionDoes this cook slow I read one review that said it was not powerful and cooked slow.

    Asked by JJJJ.

    • Answer All over-the-range microwaves have less cooking power than what is available on countertop units. Codes and regulations dictate the maximum amperage (power) an appliance can draw from a standard 120 VAC circuit. In a countertop unit this can all be allocated to cooking. An over-the-range unit must also have an exhaust fan, and usually lighting, for the range. Slightly less cooking power, compared to a countertop unit, is available. Look for the power rating in the specifications. This LG is rated 1050 watts. That is quite good for an over-the-range unit. Similarly sized countertop units are 1200 to 1250 watts. I've had this unit for several months and it cooks no slower than the GE unit it replaced. However, it does not cook as fast as the countertop unit I had in my previous home.
