“I bought the sound bar and rear speakers. All the rear speakers do is mirror what the sound bar is playing. They don't act as rear left and right speakers. It's not like my old Visio 5.1 sound bar system. Using toslink cable”

Sounds like it's because the 2.1 is only set up for Left/Right stereo channels. You must have a 5.1 in order for rear speakers to work.
