Q: QuestionI’m replacing a “dead” LG model LMH2016 unit. Installed over the stove. Will this unit fit without modifications?
Asked by Reedr.
- A:Answer This replaced a LG LMH2012 OTR version. I was able to use the existing wall bracket as it appeared to be universal. It fit within my cabinet dimensions. I had to drill new holes for the top securing screws. I didnt drill a new cord hole and was able to use the existing one. I may have issues with removing a top screw to replace the carbon filter.

Q: QuestionOur new LG over the stove microwave, with external venting, seems to blow some air down onto the stovetop while the fan is on. Is this supposed to happen? Does it mean it’s not really venting to the outside?
Asked by Mary.
This question was asked about the related product: LG - 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Smart Microwave with Sensor Cooking and ExtendaVent 2.0 - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer It is considered normal for the LG 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Smart Microwave with Sensor Cooking and ExtendaVent 2.0 - Stainless Steel, Model: MVEL2137F, to blow air down onto the range below, even when configured for external venting. The main fan that exhausts smoke and grease out of your house (the range hood function) is different from the fan that cools the microwave’s internal components. The cooling fan often discharges air through the front or bottom of the unit, creating a slight, constant breeze when the microwave is in use. LG microwaves have an "auto vent" feature that senses heat from the cooktop below and turns on the ventilation fan automatically. This can cause air to blow even if you didn't manually turn on the fan, and it may continue for up to 30 minutes after cooking. The microwave’s vent fan should be turned on whenever you use the cooktop below it. The fan captures smoke, steam, and odors, and also prevents the heat from the cooktop from damaging microwave components. If the microwave is cooking, the vent fan turns on automatically if the sensors detect too much heat from the cooktop. This is designed to prevent microwave component damage...;^Ivan..

Q: QuestionDo other LG models have Extendavent feature and does that feature require venting to the outside?
Asked by Killr.
This question was asked about the related product: LG - 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Smart Microwave with Sensor Cooking and ExtendaVent 2.0 - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hi there. Please know that for the ExtendaVent to function properly, the over-the-range microwave must be vented to the outside through ductwork. The ExtendaVent cannot operate as a ductless or recirculating vent. Aside from MVEL2137F, models MHEC1737D, MVEF1337F, and MVEL2033D also have the ExtendaVent feature. -Charles

Q: Questionwhat is "extedndaVent"
Asked by Venti.
- A:Answer The vent on the bottom when you press in on it it comes out about 6 inches to extend the amount of area that the fan will help remove the heat and also gives you a bigger lip area. But unless you have a well lit, kitchen control panel is not back, lit and it makes it extremely difficult to see the numbers so much so that you have to have a flashlight handy to shine on it

Q: QuestionDO I HAVE TO CHANGE THE VENTILATION ON THE MICRO1AVE M I HANE NO DUCT FOR OUSIDE VENTING, AND WHAT IS THIS External, Recirculating VENTING? I NEED TO KNOW IF THE MICROWAVE IS ALREADY SETUP FOR INSIDE VENTING?
Asked by BOE.
- A:Answer Like all other LG Over-the-Range Microwave Ovens, the LG 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Smart Microwave with Sensor Cooking and ExtendaVent 2.0 - Black Stainless Steel, Model # MVEL2137D, can be vented in one of three ways; roof-venting, wall-venting, or room-venting (aka recirculating/ductless mode). The microwave oven only requires ductwork to properly vent through a roof or wall. If exterior ducting is not available, the unit can be set up to recirculate air back into the kitchen, which does not require external ducting but does require the use of a charcoal filter, which is typically included in the packaging and needs to be placed behind the top vent grille...^Ivan.

Q: QuestionWhat is the size or diameter of the connection to the external vent, for the external vented configuration?
Asked by hellojohnson.
This question was asked about the related product: LG - 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Smart Microwave with Sensor Cooking and ExtendaVent 2.0 - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer If you are going to vent the LG 2.1 cu. Ft. Smart Over-the-Range Microwave with ExtendaVent®2.0 & EasyClean®, Model # MVEL2137F, through the roof or through the wall, the standard fittings and their equivalent length in feet are: • 3 1/4" x 10" to 6" transition = 5 ft. • 3 1/4" x 10" 90° elbow = 25 ft. • 90° elbow = 10 ft. • 3 1/4" x 10" wall cap = 40 ft. • 45° elbow = 5 ft. When Installing Venting, you will need to keep the length of the ductwork and the number of elbows to a minimum to ventilate your oven efficiently. The total length of the duct system, including straight duct, elbows, transitions, and wall or roof caps must not exceed 140 feet. For best performance, do not use more than three 90 degree elbows, and keep the length as short as possible. If you have existing duct that is round, you must use a rectangular-to-round adapter, with a rectangular 3" extension duct installed between the damper assembly and the adapter to prevent the exhaust damper from sticking...^Ivan.

Asked by Shiv.
This question was asked about the related product: LG - 2.1 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Smart Microwave with Sensor Cooking and ExtendaVent 2.0 - Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hello there, Shiv. We understand your inquiry about the LG Over-the-Range Smart Microwave (MVEM2033D) and the installation services offered by Best Buy. While our team can answer questions about our products, for specifics regarding third-party retailer services like installation, it's best to contact them directly. Based on publicly available information, Best Buy's standard installation for over-the-range microwaves generally includes connecting the new unit to existing electrical outlets and ductwork. However, they typically do not perform any new construction, such as cutting into walls or cabinets to create a new vent duct. For that type of work, it is often necessary to hire a licensed contractor or electrician. https://www.bestbuy.com/product/lg-2-1-cu-ft-over-the-range-smart-microwave-with-sensor-cooking-and-extendavent-2-0-printproof-stainless-steel/J7G56535YV Your feedback is important, and we'd like to assist you further.
