I paid to have this installed but I am a member of the geeksuad annual services which cost $199 annually. But I did that because I had multiple installs of TVs to be done and that makes every install only $49.95. I don't know if this helps in your situation. It does take two people to do this since the hole is already there from previous microwave it should be easier for you than an original install. It took them about an hour with 2 guys they had to drill new holes and I also had a GE over range microwave before.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does require some “handyman” skills and ideally the use of a power drill/screwdriver. You will have to remove the existing GE mounting plate in the back wall after you remove the old microwave. Then you have to use the template provided to drill holes in the back wall and existing cabinet floor, install anchors etc to attach the mounting bracket for the new microwave. I had to do the same removal and installation as you and ran into two problems—metal duckting in the wall cavity where one anchor had to go, and an existing top cabinet that was not level leading to difficulty aligning the template for the new microwave. Had to invent workarounds and cut away a bit of the lower portion of the cabinet back. Hopefully you won’t have these issues but they illustrate what unknowns can exist with any installation. Also it takes two people to hold old unit as it is being taken down and to lift new unit onto the new back wall bracket. Good luck.
