• Don't see why not. I've had two replaced (and another next week) and the technician removed the units easily by removing two screws underneath the top and pulling it out.

• Yes the bin can be used for storage or you can remove it. ^Daphane

• Yes there is a switch on the ice cube maker to turn it off and the space can easily be used to store something else.
