The ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 22.7 Cu. Ft. 4-Door French Door Counter-Depth Refrigerator with Double Freezer and Internal Water Dispenser - PrintProof™ Stainless Steel, Model # LMWC23626S does not have to be connected to a water line for it to operate. It just means that you cannot use the internal water dispenser since you there is no water supply coming into the refrigerator & the automatic Ice Maker cannot produce ice without a water supply. If you do not intend to connect the refrigerator to a water line, you will need to make sure that you set the power switch for the refrigerator to the Off position. The installed LG LG LT1000P® - 6 Month / 200 Gallon Capacity Replacement Refrigerator Water Filter (NSF42, NSF53, and NSF401*) is designed to filter out contaminants from the water coming from your water line and to remove the chlorine taste in your water line. It is recommended that you replace the water filter every six months, but depending on your water quality, when the water dispenser output decreases, that will be an indication that the water filter needs to be changed and that might occur before the recommended six months. You will need to change the water filter for whichever event occurs first. If you do not have the refrigerator connected to a water line, since there is no water going into the refrigerator, there is nothing for the water filter to filter out so it will not need to be changed...^IFV

We have not bought the fridge yet and we don't need water dispensed from the fridge. We don't plan to connect the fridge to any water pipe, and we want the fridge to be fully operational (and quiet). Thank you.
