“I have a small opening (35" wide), specs all say 'fits 33" opening' but 36.25' with door open 90-degrees (no handle), will the doors open wide enough?”

What the specifications for the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 24.2 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice and Water - Stainless Steel, Model # LFXS24623S mean when it says that it "fits 33" opening" is this. The cabinet for the refrigerator has a width of 32 3/4" (33.75"). The Installation Clearance for the sides to allow for air flow around the unit is 1/8" (0.125") on the sides, 1" on the top and 1" in the back. The Installation Clearance measurements (1/8" [.125"]) and the width of the refrigerator (32 3/4" [32.75"]) add up to 33" hence the "fits 33" opening" description. The cabinet for the refrigerator, (Depth without door) is 29". Add the 1" installation clearance, that will be 30". If you have walls past that 30" depth, you will need a clearance of at least 41 1/8" for the doors to open 90° when the handles are on the door. That is also what is meant by "Door edge clearance with handle" 4 1/2". For the doors to open 90°, each door needs 4 1/2" clearance. The same measurements are given for the refrigerator without the handles on the door which is what you have as a width of 36.25" (36 1/4"). In other words, for the door to open 90° without handles on it, you need a clearance width of 36.25". As to if your doors will open wide enough will depend on the proximity of the walls to the doors if you have walls or cabinets that extend beyond the 30" (i.e. 29" refrigerator cabinet + 1" clearance space behind the refrigerator)...^IFV

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Be VERY careful! Pull out another appliance & make a "wall" & see if the doors open & trays slide! Our opening was 36.5 & the 33.5 JUST opens! It's the hinges & handles that are a problem.
