• We are not using the ice maker. It can be turned off and the tray is removable so it is easy enough to not use it.

• The LRFCS2503S has a factory installed ice maker that cannot be removed. ^CP

• Most refrigerators now have an ice making system as a standard feature. You don't have to have a water line hooked up so that it won't make ice, but they do come with a filter system to make the water have a better taste and filters out some of the hardness.

• No you don't need to use ice maker. I shut it off because we use very little ice.
