“My new refrigerator of 6 months is making a sound every hour on the hour as if it is trying to fill an ice maker. The upper door ice maker is doing fine, however the lower ice maker that makes the golf ball-shaped ice has stopped producing. Any idea why?”

Sounds as if the icemaker is trying to dump ice but is prevented from doing so. When the ice reaches a certain level in the bin, a control arm will prevent the ice from dropping, but you will hear it attempt to do so. Or, there is some other obstruction. Make sure the ice bin is seated correctly.
