• Yes. There is a notification. It is not very loud, but goes off soon enough after leaving the door open that you should hear it.

• There is a notification when you leave the door open. However, a small annoyance is that there's no way to turn it off. If you're loading food in or out or cleaning it, the occasional beep-beep is irritating. We have a smaller LG in our second home that has the same beep-beep sound when the door is left open, but it has a button to cut it off and on, unlike the one you're asking about. That said, I love this refrigerator. The lack of a button to turn the notification on/off is a minor annoyance.
