• This would probably better asked on the LG website. Similar models do have an extra ice maker for the bottom compartment to make "craft ice" balls, but my understanding is that those units are really slow. You may be better off making your own ice with old fashioned ice cube trays or buying bags of ice for parties. That's what we started doing when we realized how small the ice cube compartment really is, and it seems to take a long time to make also.

• Do not know. When we know that we may be in need of additional ice we empty the ice maker on the door and store the ice in a large ice tray in the freezer.
