There are two icemakers. You can dump the bin from the door into the tub in the freezer to utilize more ice making ability for when you need a lot of ice. That's what we did. Ice maker in freezer also makes it's own ice.

French Door Refrigerator in Smooth Black with Dual Ice Makers, Model # LFXS29626B will produce between 70 ~ 182 cubes of ice in a 24 hour period. Ice production stops when the in-door Ice Bin is full and when full, the Ice Bin holds approximately 6 to 8 (12-16 oz) glasses of ice. The other Ice Maker in the Freezer Room will produce 12 cubes per cycle—approximately 100 cubes in a 24-hour period, and again, that would depend on the freezer compartment temperature, room temperature, number of door openings and other operating conditions. You can also increase ice production, using the Ice Plus function which increases both ice making and freezing capabilities. ^CP
