I own this surround sound as well, and to answer your question the answer is maybe. It just depends on what type of connections your tv has. This system is Bluetooth and also accepts optical input for audio. An optical cable is provided in the box. It also has 2 hdmi inputs. So if your older television has any of those connections then the answer becomes yes. If your older television only uses RCA output for audio, then the answer becomes no. I hope this helps.
