If I remember correctly, you connect your iphone to the refrigerators WiFi, then with the LG app, you basically tell the refrigerator how to connect to your home router(Your routers broadcast name and password).

Only had it chime once since the delivery "clean interior" day when I had the doors open extended periods of time.
