A:AnswerSuggestions from a salesperson that helped me get rid of the smell - 1) always wipe the rubber gasket dry (I was doing that, but didn't realize it's the smaller "fold" in the gasket that really needs to be wiped dry, that's where the drain holes are), 2) spray a mixture of white vinegar and water around the gasket and into those drain holes, 3) be sure to empty the drain line regularly. (I have an older model that looks just like this one, so I'm just assuming the newer model still has a drain line that is accessed behind the small pane on the bottom left of the front of the washer)

My folks have a front loading Maytag set that is 8 or 9 years old. The soap drawer needs rinsed out and dried occasionally to keep from getting gummed up and not dispensing. Our LG has some clear water in the bleach and softener trays after the loads are done also. I'm thinking they will stay clean longer.
